Bandly helps you monitor and tune your home 4G/5G router. Most of what the app does happens on your phone and directly between your phone and your router. This page explains exactly what leaves your phone and what does not.
1. What we never collect
No account or sign-up required
- Your name, phone number or email
- Your router password or Wi-Fi password
- Your precise (GPS) location
- Contacts, photos or files
- SMS stored on the router or the list of devices connected to it
2. Stored on your phone only
| Data | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Router password and Wi-Fi details | System secure storage (Keychain / SecureStore) | Sign in to the router, share Wi-Fi |
| Router name and address | App storage | Router list |
| Signal history and trials | App storage | Charts and comparisons |
| Settings | App storage | Your preferences |
3. What leaves your phone (anonymous)
Usage statistics: once a day the app sends our server a random identifier generated inside the app (not tied to you or your device), the city you chose yourself (optional), phone model and OS version, app version, and the types of routers you added — so we know how many people use the app and can improve it.
Bandly Community (optional, off by default): if you turn it on, the app shares anonymous per-tower results (tower ID, carrier, the setting tried and the signal score) so everyone can see the best setting for the same tower. No location or name is sent.
Technician mode (only when you start it): signal readings are streamed to the technician you invite; if you start a call, camera or voice message it is relayed through our server. Sessions end automatically (2 hours max) and voice messages are deleted automatically. Your router password never passes through technician mode.
This data is not linked to your identity, not used for tracking or advertising, and never sold or shared with third parties.
4. External connections
- Your router on your local network only — the code blocks sending the password to any address outside your network.
- Speed and ping tests (only when you run them): public measurement servers such as Cloudflare and game servers.
- Bandly server (has-host.com): statistics, community and technician mode as described above.
- App updates via the Expo update service.
5. Permissions
| Permission | When and why |
|---|---|
| Local network | Reach your router and read the signal |
| Camera | Only when you tap “Scan router label” or turn on the camera with a technician. The label image is read on your phone and never uploaded. |
| Microphone | Only for calls and voice messages with a technician |
| Notifications | Local alerts when the connection changes (optional) |
6. Children
The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone.
7. Your rights
Your personal data stays on your phone under your control. The anonymous data in section 3 cannot be linked to you; if you want anything related to a specific technician session deleted, contact us.
8. Changes
Any update will be published on this page with its date.
